Welcome
The Gynomite blog creates a safe place for women writers of all persuasions and backgrounds to express their deepest, darkest selves in a public arena. Our mission is to help "put the clit on the map" (thank you, Susie Bright!) whether on the page or on the stage, without apology or anxiety.
Gynomite began as a reading series in 1994, an effort to empower women writers to use their talents to write their own versions of porn. Since then, Gynomite has become a CD anthology, a book anthology, a national spoken word tour, and a kickass writing and performance workshop for women.
Since writing online is a kind of performance in and of itself, we hope you'll enjoy what you read here, and appreciate the courage and the skill it took to put these words down.

my vagina's story is a story of survival, of pain, of hope, of fear and loathing and trembling. my vagina was abused and taken advantage of by incest. my vagina slept for many years, has a habit of staying asleep, but has been awakening more and more with each passing day. she gets quite lonely and her nature is to remain guarded. but her guardian totem flower is the lotus blossom and the past few weeks she has been opening more and more gently as when you imagine the snow carefully everywhere descending. my vagina is an ee cummings poem. my vagina has fortunately been physically very healthy, but man oh man, is there ever some stuck Qi going on down there. doing my best to pay more attention to her and treat her the way she always should've been.
